Whether baking a cake at home or having one made, there’s always one thing in common: we want it to look amazing! But taking a bite and realising it is dry or just a plain old flavour can be pretty disappointing regardless of how good it looks. This got me thinking about interesting flavour combinations and I wanted to know a little bit more about what our bakers can offer.

Check out our top picks:

Marmite Brownies by Elizabeth

Do you love it or hate it? Well, this first flavour might not be to everyone’s taste, but for those of you who are marmite lovers, it is definitely worth a try. Think sweet chocolate brownie with the added savoury saltiness of the marmite – delicious! I mean, people were dubious about peanut butter brownies, but now it’s considered a standard flavour combo. We think Marmite is the next contender!

Chocolate Sesame Layer cake by Elizabeth

This cake consists of a chocolate, sesame and coffee infused chocolate sponge with tahini icing and sesame brittle. The sesame adds a rich, nutty flavour to the cake, which compliments the chocolate perfectly. The tahini icing and sesame brittle make this a decadent treat - definitely worth a try.

Two-Tiered Celebration Cake by Maxine

This cake has different flavours for each tier, in case you can’t decide on just one.

Bottom tier: Chilli carrot cake with lemon buttercream

Top tier: Semi-sweet chocolate cake with white chocolate buttercream

Handmade decoration: chilli toasted walnuts, macarons, dark chocolate shards, salted caramel popcorn, chocolate truffles.

Overloaded with flavours and decorations, it would be hard to find someone that wouldn’t want a slice of this cake. It offers a delicious tier of chocolate cake for the chocoholics, and a more adventurous option of chilli carrot cake with lemon frosting. This is a combination I’ve never heard of before; but sounds both intriguing and delicious.

Chai-Spiced Parsnip Bundt Cake by Huda

An offering for the coeliacs out there. This gluten free Bundt cake contains parsnips, a less-used root vegetable in baking, but by no means less delicious. Infused with a warming chai spice, this cake proves that chai is not just for lattes!

Salted Caramel Apple Pecan Cake by Sandra

Filled and topped with caramelised cinnamon apples and cinnamon mascarpone frosting, this cake is a definite showstopper. These comforting winter flavours are perfect for the winter months, and the salted caramel drip adds an extra luxurious dimension!

We want our customers to remember not just how great the cake looked, but also how great it tasted! It is definitely what’s on the inside that counts ;-) Feeling inspired? Submit your bespoke request at www.mybaker.co.
